On Thursday, October 10th, our membership voted overwhelmingly in support of the new contract. This new contract will be retroactive to September 1, 2024.
Thank you to everyone who voted, came to mobilization meetings, contacted your bargaining team, and helped support your fellow Paraprofessionals. We could not have done this without you!
September 2024 Update
Our contract has expired as of September 1, 2024, but we are continuing to work under the terms of the old contract until we can reach a fair contract that reflects the great work you all do. Your bargaining team is currently working on counter proposals to the issues we still have on the table, including the District’s wage proposal. The bargaining teams meet again on October 2 and 3. More updates will follow after our next bargaining session.
Our Progress Before Summer
Our negotiations with the District have generally been positive, productive negotiations. We discussed issues that are important to you, including safety, job responsibilities, technology, and wages, but could not finish before summer.
Unfortunately, our last meeting ended on a sour note. We received the District’s proposal for wages, benefits, and working conditions, and it was very disappointing. Our team was shocked and felt disrespected. We know this offer is far below what you all deserve, especially with all the increased demands that are being asked of us all.
We are currently working with the District to schedule dates to continue negotiations this year.
